Contacting members

Managing your contacts (to / from)

RSVP helps you to keep track of your contacts through the 'Mailbox' feature. Here you can:

  • keep track of the emails and kisses you have sent and received;
  • see the contacts you have made; and
  • view the emails you have sent and received from members

To access this feature

  • Log on to RSVP
  • Go to the ''Mailbox'
  • Then select 'inbox', 'outbox', 'contacts', 'contact history', 'favourites', 'blocked', or 'ignored' from the drop down menu

Reply Rate

RSVP calculates your Reply Rate to recent emails and kisses from other members. This is shown on both your inbox and in 'My Home'. You should aim for as high a Reply Rate as possible, not just as a simple courtesy to other members but it will also assist you with your success on RSVP.

Your Reply Rate is measured by your replies to individual members within the last month. As long as you have responded to a member by kiss or email it will be considered a complete reply. So for example, if a member sends you 3 kisses and you reply with an email your Reply Rate is considered to be 100%.

To improve your Reply Rate, respond to all contacts in the last month.

My Favourites

This function lets you add member profiles in an easy to find and manage location. If you're interested in a member, simply click on the 'Add to Favourites'. You must be logged on to use this feature. From this list, you can:

  • include your own personal comments about this member
  • send a kiss
  • send an email
  • initiate a chat session if the member is online
  • remove profiles from your favourites

Viewing/responding to a Kiss

There are two ways to reply to an RSVP Kiss.

  1. Reply from your html email
    • if you have chosen to receive HTML emails, there's a link to 'Reply' contained in the body text
    • clicking on this link will open an internet browser, and direct you to the view message page
    • at the bottom, click on 'Reply to Kiss'
    • this then lets you select how you want to reply (interested or not with variations)
    • click the 'Submit' button to send the kiss reply.
    • you can change from plain text to HTML emails by clicking 'My Home' then 'Account Details'
  2. Reply from your rsvp account
    • log on to your profile at www.rsvp.com.au
    • Go to the 'Mailbox' menu
    • Select 'inbox' link from the drop down menu
    • this section displays all the contacts you've received from members
    • you should see the RSVP name of the member that sent you the kiss
    • click on the link to view your message
    • at the bottom, click on 'Reply to Kiss'
    • this then lets you select how you want to reply (interested or not with variations)
    • click the 'Submit' button to send the kiss reply.

And just a quick note: it's free to reply to a Kiss email you've received, so whether you're interested or not, please take the courtesy to respond regardless of your decision to pursue contact or not. It's good practice, especially if the tables are turned and you're the one waiting for a reply to a Kiss you sent someone.

First, we encourage our members to be honest in their profiles and only upload current photos of themselves. We request confirmation of email addresses and mobile numbers to ensure contact initiated by our members goes to a valid person. Finally, we manually approve all profiles and photos for appropriate content. Unfortunately, we cannot check the integrity or truthfulness of profiles and do rely on our members to alert us to suspect profiles.

If you find a suspect profile, perhaps containing inappropriate content, a celebrity photo or otherwise, please Contact Us with the details of the suspect profile, including their RSVPName. As a result of our investigations, we will determine whether it is appropriate to take any further action against the member complained of.

Instant messaging problems

Getting Started

Instant messages are text messages that you can send to other people who are online when you are. Your message is delivered immediately, and the person you sent the message to can immediately respond (or can choose not to respond) - just as in a face-to-face conversation. Here are a few basic steps to help you get started:

  • You need to be registered and logged on to use RSVP IM
  • To use RSVP IM, you need to have Pop Ups enabled
  • Log on to RSVP
  • Click on the My Home link in the main navigation bar, then select Account Details from the drop down menu
  • Scroll down to the heading of Instant Messaging
  • Set the limit of the number of Simultaneous Chat Sessions you want to have at any one time
  • Click on Submit button at the bottom of the page to save your preferences

Disable Instant Messaging

You can enable and disable Instant Messaging at any time.

  • Log on to RSVP
  • Click on the My Home link in the main navigation bar, then select Account Details from the drop down menu
  • Scroll down to the heading of Instant Messaging
  • Set the limit of the number of Simultaneous Chat Sessions to 'no chat'
  • Click on Submit button near the bottom of the page to save your preferences

Costs for Instant Messaging

To initiate a chat with a particular member it will cost you 1 stamp. A stamp will give you a time-frame of 30 days to chat with this member. Within this period, you have an open channel to initiate any number of chat sessions with that particular member without incurring another stamp. It is free to accept an instant message. The stamp initiates a chatting period and within that time either party has an open channel and can initiate further chat sessions with each.

Please do NOT accept an invitation to chat with a member if you are not interested in chatting with them - as this will cost them a stamp if you accept their invitation to chat with you.

Search for members to Instant Message

Not everyone has enabled the instant messaging setting on their profile and therefore there will be members that won't be ready to instant message with you. Also, you can only instant message with members who are currently online and are waiting to instant message therefore you will need to know how to identify them.

When conducting a Search you can specify it to only include members that are able and/or available for instant message. Make sure to adjust the search accordingly under the heading Available For Instant Messaging.

When viewing a particular profile you can see if they are chat enabled by looking at the top left of their profile page. Next to their RSVP name there will be a instant messaging icon that will indicate the status of the profile. You can put your mouse over the icon to display a message tag that will describe the meaning of the icon. The selection:

  • Are Online - currently online and available for Instant Messaging
  • Have Been Online - currently offline, but has Instant Messaging enabled
  • icon indicating member is online Member is online and available for instant messaging
  • icon indicating member has an open contact with you Member has an open contact with you, and further contact (via email or chat) is free for the duration of that open contact
  • icon indicating member has 1 free reply The open contact to this member has been stopped. You will not be able to engage in further contact until the current open contact has expired
  • icon indicating member's contact history Member's contact history

It's a safe, secure way to meet other singles, enabling you to search members based on age, gender, height, ethnicity, interests and hobbies, music tastes, relationship expectations and much more.

If you're a first time visitor, welcome! We do encourage you to visit our section on Dating Safety, to help ensure your experience is a fun and safe one.

How to join (it's free)

Simply click Join Now at the top of this page! Registration is free, and includes 3 sections:

  1. Creating Your RSVP Account. This section establishes your account and provides us with your contact details. To ensure your personal identity is kept private, we request you nominate an RSVP name, which is how other members identify you. Other personal information such as your email address and real name is NEVER published. We use our secure technology as the gateway between you and other members, so you're only ever recognised by your RSVP name.
  2. Your Details. This section allows you to tell others what your favourite interests are, from movies to books to sporting interests. Essentially, this is the first section on determining compatibility.
  3. In Your Own Words. Here you can tell other people what makes you - you! We've provided a comprehensive tips guide to help you with this section, as we know when put on the spot it's sometimes difficult knowing what to say.

Confirm your registration. We send a confirmation email to the email address you nominated in Step 1. Please follow the prompts and confirm your registration on the link contained in the email, as otherwise your membership will NOT be activated. If you're using a web based email address, please check your Junk Mail settings to allow mail from RSVP on your safe sender's list.

How to contact members

To communicate with another member on RSVP, you need to be registered and have an active profile. There are 4 ways you can communicate with another member - kisses, email, instant messaging and Safe Calling.

  1. RSVP Kiss: is a message you can send to another member to let them know that you're interested and would like to get to know them. Our RSVP Kiss automatically includes a link to your profile so the other member can find out about you and if you have a password-protected photo, you can include them in the Kiss. RSVP Kiss also features auto-replies for members so they can respond to you indicating their level of interest.
  2. Emails: you can send an email via our secure and anonymous email exchange. This is exactly the same as writing an email to a friend, where you can write what you want. It costs one stamp to send an email, and the communication between you and this member is open for 30 days via our secure email system so you've got plenty of time to get to know them via RSVP email before you exchange your personal email address or telephone number. If you've received an email from a member and don't wish to continue contact, please let them know you're not interested - and in the event they continue to contact you, add them to your Blocked List.
  3. IM (Instant Messaging): To initiate a chat with a particular member it will cost you 1 stamp. A stamp will give you a time-frame of 30 days to chat with this member. Within this period, you have an open channel to initiate any number of chat sessions with that particular member without incurring another stamp.
  4. Safe Calling : Talk over the phone with other RSVP members using Safe Calling without disclosing any phone numbers - this allows you to maintain your anonymity. To make a call, you will need to send an invitation first. Once the member has accepted your invitation, you can call them during their confirmed availability as shown on their RSVP Profile. You will need to have a communication channel open by using a stamp and purchase Safe Calling Credits to make the calls. We suggest that you open the channel first via email or chat to establish communication before making a call.

What are Stamps?

RSVP stamps are the currency used on our network. It is used to initiate contact with others on the site and opens up a 30 day contact channel with the other person allowing you to email and/or chat to your heart's content with the other member within that period for free.

You can purchase using any major credit card online or by phone, PayPal, BPAY, or via cheque and money order. Alternatively, you can purchase 3 stamps via a premium 1900 number, charged to your telephone account.

When you send an email using a Stamp, the member can reply to you for free - and this channel of communication is open for 30 days. That means you can exchange as many emails as you like on our secure network during this period without incurring additional costs. This 30 day period also lets you work out whether you want to disclose your private email. This helps protect your privacy and security until you're ready to disclose it. At any time, you can block a member if you no longer wish to correspond with them.

With a stamped RSVP email you can include any details you like, including and not limited to your personal email address and mobile phone number. Please note that you should only disclose such information if you are comfortable in doing so.

Events enquiries

About RSVP Events

In addition to providing our members a safe, quality environment to make contact with other singles online, we also host a variety of RSVP events nationwide. These events range from cocktail parties to harbour cruises to cooking classes and weekends away - and lots more. Designed to provide a quality environment for singles to meet other singles, it's also a great way for guests to find out about RSVP and its members prior to joining our community. The majority of our events are managed by RSVP Event Managers who are contracted to RSVP and host these on our behalf. Generally, there's something on every week around the country - so be sure that you're registered to receive our RSVP Events Alert which highlight events in your area.

What's on

To find out what's on in your area, click on the Events link in the hand navigation bar and select your State. All of our events are listed here. We also send notification of events in our fortnightly Events Alert email.

To sign up or modify your free RSVP email subscription:

  • log in to RSVP
  • go to 'My Home' in the navigation bar, then select 'Account Details' from the drop down menu option
  • select your preferences under the Email Settings section to receive or unsubscribe from the email
  • scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Submit button to save your settings
  • please note: you can unsubscribe from our emails at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link provided in our emails

Who attends our events

Members and guests alike are welcome at our events, and there's as many people arriving solo as those who come with a friend. There are great ice breaker games and our hosts are experienced in introducing you to others and making you feel comfortable. As the majority of our members prefer attending events where the age range is more closely matched to their own, we generally provide a guide as to the age range of the party. This way there's no surprises. Finally, we do monitor male/female ratios so there's a relatively even balance.

Type of events

We have two type of events:

  1. those organised by our in-house event coordinator for major events such as Valentine's Day; these events are held to raise money for our major charity partner, the National Breast Cancer Foundation, with all profits being donated; and
  2. those organised by our Event Managers, who are contracted to RSVP for the purpose of providing events on behalf of RSVP.

From mega parties, which provide a great opportunity to meet lots of singles, to cocktail parties for the more discerning members who prefer a more intimate environment where age and male/female ratios are more closely monitored, it's about having a positive attitude and enjoying an environment to meet and mingle with other singles. We also host bushwalking, tennis, sailing, golf and a variety of other events from members who prefer the great outdoors or more active pursuits. These are generally smaller groups. Our cooking classes are a huge success - as they are hosted by a highly qualified chef and a fun filled night.
