Events - Frequently Asked Questions

Check out our frequently asked questions and answers below.

I've been thinking about coming along to an event for a while although I'm not sure that it's for me?
Not every event will appeal to everyone. This is good though as it means that when you attend an event that appeals to you, you will already have something in common with everyone there! So if you aren't sure, why don't you pick the one that appeals most to you and then be sure to tell the host that it is your first event so he/she can do their best to make you feel at home and introduce you to other people there.

I would like to come to an event/activity but I will be alone and don't want to stand out?
We have lots of people that attend the events alone, so you certainly won't stand out. If you are attending an event alone and are a bit anxious please let the host at the door now so they can introduce you to some other people in the same boat and make you feel comfortable.

I'm not an RSVP member, can I still come?
You don't have to be an RSVP member to attend RSVP events or activities; as long as you're single, you're welcome to come along! Currently only members can pre-book and pay using the web site therefore if you would like to come along to an event and you are not a member you will need to pay at the door, or you can join now - it's free!!

Payment methods & pre-booking online
The payment methods available through the site are:

We only accept payment from Australian credit cards, if you have a foreign credit card and would like to pre-book for an event, we can process your payment manually. Please email support@rsvp.com.au with the event you wish to book for and a contact number so we can call you to process. Please do not put your credit card details on this email, we will contact you directly for these.

I keep getting error messages when trying to book online and it won't let me, why?
There could be a couple of reasons for this:

Foreign credit card

Past cut-off time for payment

Incomplete transaction

I don't own a printer to print out my ticket
You don't need to print out your event ticket if you don't have a printer or are unable to. Your name will be on the guest list at the door, you just simply turn up and tell the door host your real name or RSVP user name. If you have booked multiple tickets for your friends they will need to quote your name to get in. Please try and come all at the same time to avoid confusion on the night.

I'd prefer not to pay online, can I just turn up and pay at the door?
For most events you can! We recommend people pay online to guarantee their place and to ensure we cater for the correct number. However you can simply turn up on the day of the event, unless the event specifically says pre-bookings only.

What should I wear?
Most events will have a dress code to offer guidelines on what to wear, but if you are unsure just wear something smart casual. Be yourself and put your best foot forward, remember you may meet that someone special so make a bit of an effort.

How long has RSVP been running events?
RSVP has been running events for 8 years now and they are continuing to get better and better! However if you have any feedback for us or any ideas please let us know. You can email your feedback to events@rsvp.com.au

Do you run events for certain age groups e.g. under 30s/over 40s/over 50s?
We generally run all ages events but occasionally we'll run age specific age group events.
We will note the age split in the title of the event but if you aren't sure please click through to the event and read the age section for details. Not every one of our events is age split however we definitely do have some that are for specific age groups.

What is the male/female split?
For most events we endeavour to keep the gender split as even as possible however where it isn't even it is generally not far off, sometimes with a 60/40 split.
