Singles Holidays - Frequently Asked Questions

Check out our frequently asked questions and answers below.

This is my first trip so I'm a bit anxious/nervous about coming on a singles holiday. How do I know it's for me?
Not every singles holiday will appeal to everyone. This is actually a good thing as it means that when you do come along on a singles holiday that interests you, you will already have something in common with everyone there! If you aren't sure, make sure you pick a shorter trip that appeals most to you and then be sure to tell the host that it is your first event so he/she can do their best to make you feel comfortable.

I'll be coming on the trip by myself, is that ok?
Most people who come on a singles holiday come by themselves to meet other people, so you won't be out of place at all. We always have an introductory night on every holiday which includes either dinner or drinks together, this is a great ice-breaker to help everyone get to know each other at the beginning. If you're still a bit anxious about being on a trip by yourself, let the host know so they can help alleviate your concerns.

I'm not an RSVP member, can I still come?
You don't have to be an RSVP member to attend any RSVP Singles Holidays; as long as you're single, you're welcome to come along! There will possibly be other singles on the trip who are also not yet members of RSVP.

I am coming alone but don't want to pay the single supplement. How does your room matching service work?
In order to avoid the single supplement we offer a room matching service, this means that we can partner you with another traveller (of the same gender) to share a twin room. By doing this we can reduce your booking cost to twin share and thereby avoid the single supplement. Please note, We will do our best to match you with someone upon request however this will only be possible where there are other travellers who have requested a room-matching option. If this is not the case, you will still need to pay the single supplement as a solo traveller.

Do many people register for the room-matching service?
Actually it is quite common for travellers to request a room-sharing arrangement in order to reduce costs and make friends on the trip. We generally find that female travellers request this option more often than male travellers however we will try to accommodate all requests made.

What are the payment methods and deposits required?
Payment Methods: Each travel operator who provides trips on behalf of RSVP will accept multiple forms of payment including credit cards, cheque and cash. In some cases there may be a credit card fee. Please read the terms and conditions for each trip for full details on payment methods and fees.
Deposits: Each tour operator will have a different deposit requirement depending on the trip and time prior to trip leaving. Please read the terms and conditions for each trip for full deposit details.

What should I bring along to wear?
This will be dependent on the weather and location however generally we would recommend smart casual clothing. There will be a Welcome Dinner and Farewell Dinner on each holiday so you may wish to bring something a little more dressy for those evenings, however the holidays are very relaxed and certainly would not require formal wear unless otherwise specified. Be yourself and put your best foot forward, remember you may meet that someone special so make a bit of an effort.

How long has RSVP been offering singles holidays?
RSVP has been offering singles holidays through various operators for over 6 years now and they are continuing to get better and better! If you have any feedback or ideas to help improve our singles holidays, please let us know. You can email your feedback to support@rsvp.com.au.

Are your singles holidays age matched or open to all age groups?
Generally we offer age-matched singles holidays in order to attract more like-minded singles to the holiday. However in some cases we will have a style of holiday (such as trekking etc) that is a better determinant of like-mindedness than age, in which case we will open it to singles of all ages. All trips specify the age group, please check your holiday of interest for full age details.

What is the male/female split on each trip?
We endeavour to keep the gender split as even as possible however where it isn't even it is generally not far off. The most common imbalance we would see would be a 60/40 female/male split. However as most participants attend a singles holiday to make new friends, regardless of gender an imbalance does not tend to bother travellers.

How many people normally come along on a singles holiday?
While this does vary for each trip due to the popularity of the destination, most of our holidays are intimate with relatively small groups of 10-20 travellers.

Does RSVP match me with other singles on these holidays?
RSVP Singles Holidays are designed to allow all singles who wish to travel the ability to do so with other like minded singles, there is no matching available.

If you have any further questions about RSVP Singles Holidays or a specific trip, please contact support@rsvp.com.au or the reservations staff listed for the holiday you are interested in.
