Skiing and snowboarding in NZ

Posted by RSVP on

Queenstown is home to undoubtedly some of the most incredible ski fields and mountain ranges in the world so for the skiing holiday of a lifetime look no further. Whether you're a skier or snowboarder, there are 3 main areas to choose from... and none of them will leave you wanting for more...

Coronet Peak
This is New Zealand's most popular ski area. Its diverse terrain, breathtaking views, and proximity to Queenstown make for an unforgettable snow experience.

In fact it is so good that it plays host to many sporting and social events including the FIS rated Southern Cup and the Queenstown Winter Festival and it is also the training ground of New Zealand's National Ski Team.

Coronet Peal has 280 skiable hectares accessed by a six seater express chair, an express quad, a T-bar, a double chair, magic carpet and beginner tow. It's no wonder it has a reputation for some of the finest and most diverse terrain in the Southern Hemisphere. Plus, exclusive to Coronet Peak, you can also go night skiing under lights.

The Remarkables
This is just a 45 minute drive from Queenstown and has 220 hectares of sunny sheltered bowls offering an impressive skiing atmosphere. You can access these from 5 lifts, comprising of 3 quad chairs, 1 beginner tow and 1 magic carpet. The longest run at The Remarkables is 1.5km or pure skiing, or snowboarding, joy!

Apparently, these mountains were named The Remarkables because they are one of only two mountain ranges in the world which run directly north to south.

Cardrona
Cardrona Ski Slopes are the furthest from Queenstown (approximately 57km) but are one of the best New Zealand has to offer, with a vertical rise of 390m and a terrain of 320 hectares. The average annual snow fall at Cardrona is 2.7 metres.

With three valleys, Cardrona is suitable for skiers and snowboarders from beginners through to the experienced. It has 2 quad chairlifts, 1 quad express chairlift, 3 magic learner lifts and 1 platter beginner lift with a lift capacity of 7,800 people per hour.

And if skiing or snowboarding isn't what you want to do everyday then you can use your interchangeable lift pass so you can choose from one of the many other activities on offer including: Milford Sound Day Trip, Queenstown Rafting and Heli Rafting, Queenstown Combos, Shotover Jet, Skyline Gondola and Luge, Queenstown Wine Trail, NZONE Sky diving, Kawarau Jet, Milford flights, Dart River Safaris, Skyline Restaurant, AJ Hackett Bungy, Heli Skiing, Body Sanctum Day Spa, Paragliding, Minus 5 Bar, Nomad Safaris quad biking, Horse riding... and much more!

We have a singles ski holiday that is fully hosted and costs just a little more than a return flight to Queenstown would set you back... and we throw in accommodation, singles and so much more.

This is a fantastic deal and if you like skiing, snowboarding or simply meeting new people then you can't miss this trip!
