Women swoon for a handyman

Tradesmen will be pleased to know a nation-wide survey has found women would rather date hands-on labourers than suit-wearing metrosexuals.More than 700 single women took part in the RSVP online dating survey, with 93 per cent of respondents saying they would like to date a 'tradie'. Almost half of the participants said tradesmen were 'more relaxed and fun than men
in stuffy suits'.
Horsham's Luke Uebergang, 26, who owns and nuts and excavation business, strongly agreed with the findings. He said women liked the challenge of prying a 'bloke's bloke' away from his mates and interests. "They like that hard to get act, and feeling like they've won if they get you away from your mates," he said. "And I think they like that rough texture. I've never had too much trouble."
Mr Uebergang has been dating Abby Dumesny, 25, for five years. Miss Dumesny said she liked Luke's masculine appearance and muscular physique. "And I don't mind Luke in a suit, that's even better."
RSVP's Lija Jarvis said the era of the metrosexual was over. "Australian women are wanting real men, guys with a sense of humour, an outdoorsy attitude and a man who is prouder of his tools, not his tie collection," she said. "Women are over sharing their hair products, moisturisers and mirror time. Clearly, it's more sexy to know how to fix a tap or change a tyre."
Clean-cut Retravision sales assistant Aari Mellington, 17, said he had no trouble finding a girlfriend and had been in a relationship for a month. He said he dressed professionally for work and hair gel was a 'daily requirement'. "I'm just a normal average fella. I love to have a good time with mates," he said. "I can see where they're coming from, but other than that I disagree."
And hands-on work such as changing tyres or fixing things around the house is no challenge for this 'suit-type'. "Without a doubt, I can help out around the house," he said. "And on the upside, I'm always clean, well dressed, well mannered, and always there ready to chip in and give someone a hand."
