about me

More than meets the eye - I promise!

I have had a number of careers, I started laying drainage pipes and cleaning cars, after that each one has been better! Because of this I can relate to almost anyone. I have an enquiring mind (which is OK if one is certain what it is enquiring about)! I came to education long after I left school and I am not nearly as conservative as my picture suggests (I know it looks like a Target clothing ad - I used to look like a member of ZZ Top!). I like time with a partner and some comforts while travelling on road trips etc, but I also like adventure motorcycle travel roughing it severely (outback, Himalayas)- that's mostly done in solo time. Resorts are not me - OK generally boring. I like wine and the occasional drink but I am not the type to hang out in bars. Good times for me are about the people, company, intelligent conversation and laughter. I am a romantic at heart and I value loyalty. I am both serious and funny with an off beat sense of humour, I play with words and I sometimes write doggerell poetry (!) and even short stories. Everyone says I should write a book, but then probably most people have a book in them! I admire individuals who achieve, who do it their way, who overcome adversity or or who fight injustice for the best of motives. I guess that means I am idealistic - life's too short to sell out or to attract bad karma. I like activity, action and excitement. I am enthusiastic, exuberant and driven to squeeze every last drop out of life.
