Rodney & Jodie’s Love Story
Sometimes, the most extraordinary love stories begin with the simplest gestures — like a “Wink”.
“It all began on Sunday, the 23rd March 2024, with a wink from Rodney. Jodie was about to give up on all men at this stage in her life because the week before, she went on a date with a guy from RSVP who turned out to be a complete fabrication of his profile. She had lost all faith in trusting men, and especially this new way of dating. Then it happened….
Monday 24th March, she was going to cancel her profile on RSVP, when he had finally arrived…
As soon as Jodie noticed that the wink from Rod had been sent the day before, she panicked and thought, ‘OMG!! I bet he’s already gone; he’s too hot to be on any longer. But no, she quickly replied, and within the hour he responded.
From that moment on, we seemed to be on a constant 24-hour loop of messages. We couldn’t believe just how quickly we connected, understood and just ‘got’ one another. Our thoughts, our likes, dislikes, values, and even our birthdays are the same…(not year), we were like two love-struck teenagers, who straight away had the trust, openness and basic honesty. We fell fast and hard and became, and still are, inseparable.
We moved in together straight away and were engaged 4 months later. This will sound like a cliche, but it just felt so right, we had the openness, trust, love and affection. It was like lightning had struck…..like in the movies….we had to pinch ourselves as it felt too good to be true. It’s just the easiest relationship we have ever had.
We married on Tuesday, the 9th September, on the same beach where Rod proposed. We eloped – we just wanted it to be us. This is both our third marriage; we had both done the big traditional weddings with all the relatives and friends (who you don’t know), and now, being older, our priorities have changed – we just wanted the two of us, and it had so much more meaning than any of our previous relationships.
