Tony & Mieke’s RSVP Success Story
Sometimes the smallest message can change your life forever. For Tony and Mieke, one creative introduction—written by a teddy bear—started a love story that has lasted more than two decades.
In 2002, Tony (Ceaser45) noticed Mieke’s profile (Orchidrose59) on RSVP just before leaving for New Zealand with his son. Rather than sending an ordinary introduction, he decided to do something completely different.
His lifelong teddy bear became the author of the message.
Teddy wasn’t just part of the first message—he even attended their wedding.
A Message Like No Other
Tony wrote his introduction entirely from Teddy’s perspective.
The teddy bear explained that he’d been left home alone while Tony travelled overseas and asked Mieke to take his owner on a date so Teddy would never be lonely again.
It was funny, unexpected and unlike anything she’d ever received.

Mieke remembers arriving home from work, making dinner and logging into RSVP.
A new message was waiting.
It began:
“I have been left alone…”
Her first reaction?
She thought it was the strangest message she’d ever received and deleted it.
But curiosity got the better of her.
Later that evening she opened it again, read the whole story, and suddenly realised…
It wasn’t a teddy bear looking for company.
It was a man with an incredible sense of humour.
Their First Date
After chatting online, Tony and Mieke arranged to meet.
When Tony arrived…
he wasn’t alone.
He brought:
- Teddy
- A beautiful bunch of flowers
- And himself.
That thoughtful gesture confirmed everything she’d hoped for.
A Wedding with a Special Guest
On 5 March 2005, Tony and Mieke were married.
And of course…
Teddy was there too.
The teddy bear who wrote the very first introduction became an honoured guest at the wedding.
Twenty Years Later
More than twenty years after meeting on RSVP, Tony and Mieke are still making memories together.
Whether travelling, dressing up for themed parties, or simply enjoying everyday life, they continue to share the same laughter that first brought them together online.
In 2025, they celebrated 20 years of marriage—a milestone made possible by one unforgettable message from Teddy.
