RSVP’s Reverse Advice series captures the dating wisdom of those who’ve lived, loved and learned.

RSVP has hit the streets of Sydney to spotlight a group too often overlooked in dating conversations: Australians over 40.

Reverse Advice, RSVP’s refreshingly candid vox pop series, captures the dating wisdom of those who’ve lived, loved, and learned—demystifying modern romance for anyone looking for love, whether it’s their first time, a fresh start, or a second chance.

Hosted by marriage celebrant Anna Robertson of Winfred Weddings, someone who doesn’t just witness love stories but helps bring them to life, the series tackles dating head-on, with warmth, humour and heart.

Filmed in iconic locations including Pitt Street Mall and Hyde Park, the series is collection of vox pops of raw, real and relatable insights from everyday Australians over 40. From green flags to ghosting, deal-breakers to delightful surprises, it’s dating — with experience.

“When you’ve seen as many love stories as I have, you realise the best dating advice doesn’t come from experts — it comes from experience,” says host Anna Robertson. “These Australians have lived, loved, and learned — and they’re sharing what really matters when it comes to modern dating.”

“We found shared values, humour and companionship topped the list of what they’re seeking in a partner, more so than appearance or status. And most said be open, it’s not about having a long shopping lists no one can live up to that, it’s all about connection.”

This series lands at a time when dating later in life is increasingly common — and increasingly relevant. A growing number of Australians are re-entering the dating world after divorce, bereavement or long-term relationships, seeking meaningful connection.

Research has revealed 1 in 5 Australians over 60 are actively dating [1] and 60% of older singles are using online dating apps, with 65% agreeing that technology has made dating easier [2].

“Romance is important, but for the long road ahead, older Australians know it’s about respect, communication and emotional honesty,” says RSVP CEO Lucia Haigh. “This series captures their voices — full of humour, heart, and hard-won wisdom — and reminds us all that dating isn’t just for the young. It’s for the ready.”

What emerges across interviews is clear: Australians over 40 aren’t just dipping a toe in — they’re diving in with purpose. Many say a good sense of humour is a must, but shared values and mutual respect are the real foundation. Interestingly, bringing a dog on a date? Not a red flag. And when it comes to the bill, most agree a gentlemanly offer still goes a long way.

The Reverse Advice series isn’t just a series of social posts, it’s a cultural pulse check on what modern love looks like beyond the apps and glossy profiles. RSVP’s series brings older voices to the forefront, proving that dating is as relevant — and enriching — in your 40s, 50s and beyond as it is in your 20s.

Whether you’re newly single, widowed, divorced or simply curious, RSVP’s new series is a reminder that it’s never too late for real love — and you’re not alone in the search.
